Late Halloween

Two days late, but I think that's okay ;)

Here's a pumpkin that Rob carved while I made the most of its gutted insides....yum! Basically, we took the chance to show our love (yet again) for those cute little slimes from the Dragon Quest games.

I also planned to get a Halloween themed picture drawn, but didn't really get to finish it properly due to intense sleepiness. Managed to create an amazingly complex character instead though.

I love my new bag!

Time to sound like a super girly girl and exclaim "Oh.My.God...I love my new bag!!" and that's because I really do.

Bag <3

It was custom made by a lovely lady named Syl on Etsy who went on to sew an amazing bag for me, which matched my specifications exactly. I was also surprised to find that she also included a matching small purse, free of charge! I could not recommend her enough as her craftmanship is very professional.

Go visit her Etsy shop!

Fank Yoo!

Haha, I'm forever making cards!

This time, 'Fank Yoos' for family and friends who presented me with birthday gifts and cards last week - I still enjoy the old fashioned ritual of sending out thank you cards :D

Baking my own birthday cake

So it was my 22nd birthday yesterday and I had a great day: Harry Potter, pizza, cake and waaaay too many chicken wings.
My cake this year was made by my little sister, Anita, and because she had a broken oven at home the cake had to be baked at my place (it was fun opening a box to discover raw cake mix in tins)! Then, I realised I'd pretty much run out of cake toppings so we had to make do with a tiny amount of icing powder, the last few chocolate sprinkles and cherries. It might not look impressive but it sure tasted goooood - doesn't all cake?

First book cover...hopefully not my last

Even though this is of an older illustration of mine, I was so excited to receive this in the post a few days ago...my first book cover! Unfortunately, the book - an essay on trees and the way we live - is published in Italian so I'm not able to read it but, to make up for that, there is gloss detailing on the cover which is something that morphs me into a kid as if I'm handling those 'touch and feel' books. Sad but true.

On another note, I've also updated my online portfolio if you're interested.

Lazy-Eyed Hoot

Another owl!!
This time round, crocheted with very soft fluffy wool and sporting a slight lazy eye (the eye thing wasn't purposely done but I decided not to fix it because it looked kinda funny).

Zedd CDs

This morning I was excited to open a package that had arrived in the post because I knew there was a John Zedd CD hiding inside the bubblewrap. In fact, there were 2 of them (thanks again, John!).

I was slightly worried that the texture in the design might not be picked up during print but it did beautifully and I'm very happy with how they turned out. I think seeing your own work in context is the best reward :)

To listen to John's music, go to his MySpace, or to purchase a CD yourself go here to CD Baby.

TV Head on Cubeecraft

A while ago I made my TV character into a papercraft toy and it's now available for anyone to download here on cubeecraft.com! Let me know if you make one yourself :)

Snow Slimes

Q. When a big blanket of snow comes knocking at your door, what do you do?
A. PLAY

...and that's exactly what Rob and I did yesterday evening. After much snowball rolling, occasional snowball throwing and snow sculpting (with scavenged christmas tree stand parts), we managed to create this:

Snow Slimes

These 'Snow Slimes,' as I have now named them, are actually characters from the "Dragon Quest Heroes" games. They're cute little poo shaped things that like to bounce around :) and here is me looking happy and proud with the poo shaped things.

PS. Apologies for the appaling photos. We were planning to take some better ones this morning but woke up to find it had fallen over during the night *sob*

2 Birds and the Gingernaut

Recently I've not been posting here as much as I'd like to because I've got quite a few projects going on at the moment. Visual candy relating to those projects will be coming soon though. I do, however, have two things to show you today:

2 little crocheted thank you cards
2 Birds

AND this.
The Gingernaut
This the secret of the gingerbread men Rob & I have been munching: they are actually edible clones of the Juggernaut. Thanks to a secret camera, we were able to capture a gingerbread man in the day(left) and the same man at night(right).

Just a smiley innocent sweet treat? I think not.

Weird Fruit Thing

I don't really know what this is meant to be.
The plan was to make an animal of some sort but it turned out to look quite interesting at the "fat body lump" stage. So I stuck a strawberry-type leaf on it's head instead.

Guess that makes it a new type of fruit then...

Desktop Cactus

Christmas is now over and what remains is a girl sitting at her computer eating a mince pie for breakfast. Yum. Like every year, it was a big family Christmas and a great one as always! I hope you all had an awesome day!!

Off topic, here's a card I drew and a cactus that I crocheted for my brother's birthday last week. I even went out to make an 'ickle box for it. Aw.
