Odonata's game blog is alive!
So it's the end of March and, true to our word (almost!), Rob & I have launched the Odonata game development blog. It's certainly been a testing month but we're glad to finally be able to share and show you what we've achieved so far.
Head over to the new blog to watch some videos, see some screenshots and read more about the game!

March
March has been a tough month so far; pulling the game together into a presentable state has proven to be much more work than expected, but things are going well as you might be glad to hear :)
There's always time for a bit of drawing though. Here's two cards I made recently for my family:
One for my lovely mum on Mother's Day...
...and one for my youngest sister who isn't so young any more.

Odonata news
Woah, didn't realise how long it's been since my last post on here... over 3 weeks?!?
The simple reason is that Rob and I have been working crazy hard on getting the wheels rolling for our game, Odonata. At the beginning of this year, after many engine switches and a lot of learning, we got our plans set in stone and began the real work.
There's more to it all, but instead of repeating everything, I'll send you over to Rob's blog post where there's a detailed write up of our progress so far. In conclusion though, we're going to be showing our first development stuff on March 31st!
For now, here's a quick illustration of the game's main character, Aethena!

Picture Process
After having not done a more 'refined' drawing in a while, I thought I'd take a few screenshots as I worked on this one.
There's nothing spectacular about my process but this is for those who have asked me about it and for anybody else who's a bit curious!
Here is the finished illustration...

...and here are some snapshots of how it came about:

Some notes:
- Each colour is usually on a different layer and I uselayer clipping masks to add gradients.
- Shadows are on a separate layer, above all others, using Multiply as the layer blend.
- I always keep the sketch in the corner while working, to help retain the original idea.
